A pretty fast recovery from implications of Taba & Sharm El Sheikh terror acts in July 2005 inspired recent statements of Egypt Minister of Tourism, Mr. Ahmed Al Maghrabi, now targeting to receive 20 million tourists by 2015. Earlier announcements of the Minister indicated that apart from $ 6 billion + tourist revenues achieved in 2004 (8.1 million tourists spending 81.7 million tourist nights) each one million additional tourists generate employment opportunities for almost 200,000 persons. Earlier announced termination of warnings of Italian tourists from visiting Sharm El Sheikh (more than one million Italian tourists visited Egypt in 2004) & the increase of British tourists to Egypt in August 2005 by 35 % with plans to reach half million by the end of 2005, supported greatly the Minister statements. |
