Egyptian Electricity & Consumers Protection Regulatory Authority licensing three new private companies to generate & distribute electricity. They include Mirage Co. for Hotels & Tourist Development & Om Al Gureifat Tourist Co., both to operate at the Red Sea Zone. They further include the National Electricity Technology Co., to operate in Sixth of October Zone. Meanwhile, the daily Al Ahram of the same day has quoted Dr. Eng. Hassan Younis, Minister of Electricity & Energy, indicating that the private sector is encouraged to involve in that field at areas in need of the service. He assured that the Electricity Regulatory Authority is empowered to issue such licenses to private investors according to the submitted techno-economical feasibility studies, also to withdraw the said licenses in case of violations whether related to pricing or service quality. |
