Deputy Chairman of the Leather Tanning Chamber, Mr. Yehya Zalat, is promoting an L.E. 500 million project to annually produce 15 million pair of shoes for schools & university students. Project is said to be coordinated with Eng. Rashid Mohamed Rashid, Minister of Foreign Trade & Industry and the Egyptian Chamber of Leather Industries. Project provides for the strict adherence to international & EU standards & specs to enable encountering dumping acts & imports (from South & South East Asian countries) invading the country with low quality casual & leather shoes. According to Mr. Zalat, a new company would be constituted to execute the project & assure raw leather quality, fashion aspects, pricing, distribution & customer service in coordination with 600 existing private factories & workshops. |
